The Center for Financial Inclusion collaborates with a spectrum of actors including microfinance experts, bankers, investors, regulators, technology providers, academics and others, in order to address challenges in the field of financial inclusion.
Our key collaborators include:
ACCION Network – Since its inception in 1984, the ACCION Network and its members, a group of leading Latin American microfinance institutions, have dedicated their efforts to serving microentrepreneurs by providing and continuously improving financial services to low income people, reaching scale, systematically developing their institutional strength through sound governance and accessing investment. Together, the Network and its members are leaders in the commercialization of microfinance, integrating microfinance institutions into the international capital markets to harness their considerable financial power to alleviate poverty.
Center for Financial Inclusion Advisory Council – Composed of leaders from the microfinance industry and the financial sector, the Center’s Advisory Council guides the Center on development of new program areas, projects, and research.
Center for Financial Inclusion Faculty Council – The Center’s Faculty Council consists of academics from premier national and international professional schools. It aims to foster connections between the financial inclusion industry and leading academics, as well as links that encourage the engagement of students and young professionals with microfinance and financial inclusion.
The Council of Microfinance Equity Funds (CMEF) – The first membership organization bringing together the leading private entities that make equity investments in microfinance institutions in the developing world. The Council’s members seek both social and financial returns from their investments in these institutions, all of which provide a range of financial services to poor households in developing countries.
Credit Suisse Virtual Volunteers – The Credit Suisse Microfinance Advocates, now a global network 500 strong, engages with CFI from time to time on a range of volunteer projects.
Governance Working Group -- The Governance Working Group (GWG) aims to bring together leading experts and initiatives to address the challenge of improving governance in the industry. It has the responsibility to coordinate the different governance initiatives in microfinance, conduct research to advance the state of knowledge and practices, and engage with different stakeholders to implement and improve practices.
Microfinance CEO Working Group – The Microfinance CEO Working Group is a collaborative effort by the CEOs of eight pioneering international microfinance organizations. Launched in 2011, the Working Group seeks to work together to advance the future of microfinance. Its members advocate in support of responsible microfinance practices and commit to upholding their organizations to the highest standards of performance.
MicroFinance Network (MFN) – MFN is an international association of leading microfinance institutions, including some of the outstanding microfinance institutions of the world. Through the MFN, 37 members from 31 countries share ideas, experiences, and solutions to the challenges they face in search of continuous growth, service to their clients and institutional progress. MFN members seek to be models of what is possible in the industry.
The Smart Campaign – The Smart Campaign is a global effort to unite microfinance leaders around a set of shared Client Protection Principles. The Campaign has over [2,300 endorsers across the microfinance industry, including most of the leading microfinance institutions. It is led by a Steering Committee made up of leaders from all regions of the world and a range of facets of the microfinance industry.
